SHOPPING LIST

It's long been popular in business schools and management training programs to suggest that "You'll never know whether you've achieved a goal or arrived at your destination if you don't define your objective clearly right at the outset."

Certainly there's something to be said for cruising the market aisles and looking for specials and deals (and we'll be saying a bit more on that subject in SAVING MONEY). But think back on the number of times you've returned from shopping without some key ingredient.

Make a list. Consider the full requirements of each of the meals you're planning, all the ingredients - including any condiments, sauces, spices, garnishes, side dishes, Ever heard of spaghetti sauce without the pasta? Without the grated Parmesan cheese to top it? Without the sourdough bread and garlic butter? (Hey, you can include or exclude elements, based on individual taste or dietary requirements; but it sucks bigtime to have to turn off the water boiling for the pasta and run back to the store.)

TIP! Have handy recipes you'll be following and CREATE YOUR LIST IN THE KITCHEN; take a look at your cupboard, refrigerator and countertops to be sure you're not missing some required item. You WILL be surprised! (P. S. Good time to throw away some of that old moldy stuff!)
